Commercial Imperative
BGI Legal wanted to get both the firm and individual lawyers ranked in the key Legal Directories (a difficult feat as Georgia was not covered by many Legal Directories when ILFS started working with them) and develop a media strategy in key publications of influence to support the firm’s international growth strategy.
ILFS Role
ILFS Director Alex Holtum provided BGI Legal with support on international business strategy and development. His tasks also included that of providing an interface with clients in the UK.
ILFS worked with BGI Legal to develop a Legal Directory submission strategy and help establish its profile with researchers who may have not been familiar with that jurisdiction. We also recognised early on that although the firm receieved rankings, many of its lawyers initially did not. This did not properly reflect the firm's strength and depth. As a result, ILFS focussed on obtaining rankings for its lawyers through individual profile development.
ILFS also created and maintained an annual media plan for BGI Legal, advising on Legal Directory profiles and co-publishing articles that helped raise its international visibility. We also counselled BGI Legal on the potential effectiveness of different advertising offers made to them throughout the year and, where necessary, both negotiated prices and placed bookings with publishers.
ILFS updated the BGI Legal’s website and Facebook pages with its latest news including staff changes, conferences attended and Legal Directory rankings achieved.
The Result
Since ILFS first started working with BGI Legal the jurisdiction of Georgia is now covered by all the Legal Directories and we have helped them achieve a top tier ranking in every one, including 6 individual rankings for their lawyers.
BGI Legal also have a successful and cost effective international media campaign in place to support its international profile and business growth ambitions.
